Dean's Message

Dear Students,

Basic science is a field where fundamental truths are revealed and information is produced in order to understand the mysteries of nature with theoretical and mathematical methods, observations and experiments. Basic science is like a majestic tree with strong roots that every scientist who aims to understand can lean on safely. The locomotive of basic sciences is the Faculties of Science.

Eskişehir Technical University Faculty of Science continues its studies as a faculty that conducts qualified research in the field of basic sciences in line with the needs of society, considering ethical principles, trains competent and innovative individuals in its field with its quality education, prioritizes internal and external stakeholders, and leads innovation-oriented changes. The Faculty of Science, which includes the departments of Biology, Physics, Statistics, Chemistry and Mathematics, acts with the vision of being a pioneer faculty in its field, known internationally, that directs the change and transformation process of our country with its qualified research in the field of basic sciences. In addition to the basic programs in our faculty, there are Business Analytics coordinated by the Department of Statistics, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense coordinated by the Department of Biology, Nanoscience coordinated by the Department of Physics and Polymer Science and Technology interdisciplinary minor programs in the Department of Chemistry. All departments of the faculty have been accredited by FEDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Curriculum of Faculties of Science, Literature, Science - Literature, Language and History - Geography) twice for 5 years until September 30, 2023.

In the departments within the Faculty of Science, students are provided with a quality education with a comprehensive curriculum where theoretical knowledge is combined with practical applications. Our students and faculty members have the opportunity to study or do internships in different countries of the world by participating in international exchange programs such as Erasmus/Erasmus+/Erasmus Internship. Our students gain the opportunity to do research and projects by taking part in national and international projects with our faculty members. Our students can also do internships and project-based internships within the scope of their curriculum. In addition, all our students can do majors and minors in other departments.

Our faculty members, who act with the motto “The Most Real Guide in Life is Science”, carry out both undergraduate and graduate courses and academic activities. Our faculty members make qualified publications in our faculty, which has a modern and powerful laboratory infrastructure (23 research laboratories in Physics, 14 in Biology, 20 in Chemistry, 5 in Statistics and 5 in Mathematics). The qualified and quantitative publications made in our faculty ensure that our faculty has an important position in national and international rankings. In addition, our faculty members contribute to the increase in international collaborations by taking part in national and international projects.

As we enter the second century of our Republic, we continue our work with the aim and goal of becoming a faculty that takes reason and science as its guide, researches, can interpret natural and social events within the framework of cause-effect relationships, can think analytically, has social awareness, educates well-equipped individuals, produces groundbreaking knowledge, contributes to the development of the country and is known and respected all over the world, as we did before.
